NFL Preseason Handicapping: Pros and Cons

Among the sports betting public there\’s a lot of conflicting opinions about betting NFL preseason games. That\’s not really surprising, since there doesn\’t seem to be much middle ground on the subject. Overly cautious handicappers would argue that preseason football is a poor wagering opportunity. Some of the more obnoxious tout services would have you believe that short of a fixed game there is no greater \”lock\” that preseason football. Like most things that produce such polarized opinions, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle of the two extremes. Preseason NFL football is a unique proposition for the sports gambler, but when approached with caution, discipline and knowledge it can yield some profit.

The most compelling argument against preseason wagering is simply that the games don\’t count. While there are often spots during the regular season where teams may seem more or less motivated, in theory they all want to win. That\’s not something that can be taken as a \’given\’ during the preseason, however, as the individual agendas of NFL coaching staffs can very widely. Some might want to win games to establish a winning attitude, others might put a greater focus on working in a new offensive or defensive scheme. Others may prioritize evaluating talent at key positions, while others may simply want to make it through to the regular season without any significant injuries. With all of the uncertainty swirling around preseason football, handicapping wins and losses against the pointspread can be exceedingly difficult.

But like the old saying goes \”every dark cloud has a silver lining\”. And the divergent agendas at play in preseason football can be seen as precisely why it is a good wagering opportunity. For example, say the Superbowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play an \’also ran\’ team like the Houston Texans. By regular season standards, the Steelers would almost certainly be favored. In the preseason, however, they\’ll often have a different agenda for the individual game. A \”better\” team has more concern about protecting key players. and usually has fewer personnel decisions to deal with. They don\’t need to worry about implementing coaching changes, or creating \’team chemistry\’. As a result, \’better\’ teams frequently approach preseason games as a mere annoyance.

On the other hand, consider the \’lesser\’ team in a preseason matchup. They often have a number of key starting positions they need to fill, along with backup positions up for grabs. They may have new coaching staffs that players want to impress, new offensive or defensive schemes to implement. Most significantly, \’lesser\’ teams often view the preseason as an opportunity to build team chemistry or create a winning attitude. A team trying to rebuild can benefit from winning *any* games, regardless of whether or not they count in the standings. For a league doormat, a win over an elite level opponent can serve as a rare highlight of a losing season.

While some teams could care less about the result of preseason games, few want to enter the regular season having lost them all. In light of this fact, a successful preseason situation that has stood the test of time is to bet on teams that lost their first two exhibition games outright. This situation has produced a winning percentage right around 60%.

The philosophy of a NFL head coach is arguably the single most important factor contributing to preseason success. Some coaches always want to win, even if the games don\’t count in the standings. Other coaches place a much greater importance on evaluating personnel and giving backups playing time they won\’t have the opportunity to get during the regular season. The coaches that have a strong desire to win in the preseason often result in their team\’s pointspreads being inflated somewhat, but a motivated team is always worth consideration for a wager.

One of the best tools that a handicapper has at his disposal during the preseason is the Internet. Actually, it\’s a great tool year round but during the preseason it is invaluable. The best source of information on coaching philosophies, game plans, injuries, lineup changes, etc, are the local sports pages of NFL teams. Basically, the situation during preseason is that there is a lot of interest in the team and a lot of anxious beat writers looking to write stories. The problem is that there is little in the way of real news, and for that reason you\’ll find the sort of minutiae on teams and players from which you can often extract relevant handicapping information. Even if there aren\’t any nuggets of handicapping gold, you can at least get a feel for the coach\’s goals for the game and the amount of playing time that key players will see. Sometimes coaches will come right out and say who will play at what juncture of the game, and will occasionally go on record that personnel decisions like evaluating all of the guys they\’re considering for the backup defensive secondary jobs are more important than winning. Clearly, operating with this knowledge is a distinct advantage and operating without it can be fatal. There\’s nothing more frustrating than betting on a team only to have them look like they could care less whether or not they win the game. During the preseason, however, it can frequently be prevented with some simple research and analysis.

In closing, the best advice is to not be afraid of wagering on preseason football, but to not get too excited about it either. It\’s a good chance to grind out a small profit, but definitely not the moneymaking opportunity of a lifetime. There will be plenty of other\”and better\”football wagering opportunities down the road. Discipline and self-control is always in your best interest when betting on sports, and that certainly is the case in the preseason NFL.

Check Out The Airsoft Guns

Airsoft guns are 3mm or 4mm guns. They are realistic looking but they do not shoot regular bullets. They shoot small bb\’s that are made of rubber. The use of the airsoft guns are definitely increasing on the battlefield during a war reenactment or in the woods as part of a hunting game.

In the cities in the United States where major, life changing battles were fought, reenactments of these battles take place on a regular basis. During these reenactments the men and women use the Airsoft guns. These guns really fit the part.

The Airsoft guns do not expel actual live ammunition but they do look very realistic and make the sounds of an actual gun firing. When the crowds gather to watch the reenactment, they are all stunned at how real it looks and they usually get a feel of the pain and suffering that went on.

The Airsoft guns are also used by some people to play hunting games. A group of friends and family get together and try to find each other in the woods. It is a game of skill and expertise as they have to sneak into the area of one of their friends and claim a victim.

Everyone who participates usually dresses in a camouflage outfit or some other pieces of clothing that will allow them to blend in with the wooded area. Once everyone has agreed on the boundaries that they will be playing between, the game begins.

They will spread out in different directions and wait until a specific time has passed. Once the time has passed they begin their hunt. At this point the people that went into the woods as friends become the targets.

When one person finds another they are to sneak up on them and fire the air soft gun at their opponent. Once someone has been hit, they are out of the game. The last person standing is the winner.

While the Airsoft guns are safer than a regular ammunition gun, it is not to be thought of as completely safe. When you get hit with a rubber bullet from an Airsoft gun you are sure to feel the pain. You will feel a stinging sensation and you probably will end up with a bruise. Airsoft guns are not intended to be able to break the skin when it hits but if you shoot from a close enough range it is possible.

The Airsoft guns are not toys. Sure, they do not have live ammunition in them but they should not be treated as anything less than any other gun. You should never allow a child of any age to play with or handle the Airsoft gun. If a teen boy or girl is allowed to operate the Airsoft gun, they should be heavily monitored while doing so.

If a person was to get shot in the eye with one of the rubber bb, it could leave permanent damage to the eye. It may not be able to break the skin unless it is shot extremely close up but if they bb hits an eye, even from a good distance away, the consequences could be very bad.

The use of an Airsoft gun is a lot safer than using a gun with live ammunition in it but it still can be dangerous. Whether it is being used to reenact a famous scene from our history or just for a good game of hunting in the woods, the Airsoft guns are great to own and use. Consider these guns if you are in the market to purchase one.

Dallas Cowboys Tickets

Based in Irving, Texas, the Dallas Cowboys are one of the professional football teams of the Western states. They are currently housed at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. They first joined the NFL in 1960 as an expansion team. They became very popular hence, primarily because the team has always shown the might and the form of a champion.

For 160 consecutive games, the Dallas Cowboys have sold out every single seat in their arena. This streak started almost 20 years ago. This only shows how powerful the team really is, in and out of the playing court. The record they have established caused them to earn the title of being the most valuable sports franchise in the United States by Forbes Magazine.

Before they are known as the Cowboys, the team was called the Steers and the Rangers first. The team started playing in the 1960s at the Cotton Bowl arena. They never won a single game during their first season though. But that didn’t stop them from winning big several years later.

With Don Meredith, Chuck Howley, and Don Perkins playing for the team in the 1960s, the team slowly but surely became one of the contenders of the league. The nationwide popularity of the Dallas happened the next decade when they became the favorites during the Super Bowl. The team won Super Bowl XII, after making an appearance in Super Bowl X and eventually, in Super Bowl XIII.

In the 1980s, Danny White joined the team. He replaced Roger Staubach as quarterback and he was able to lead the Cowboys to a five-time playoff series during his reign. But despite their good performance, the team failed to make it into Super Bowl. There were lots of losses and disappointments during this decade. But the team knows how to get past them.

In the 2000s, Dave Campo moved from being a defensive coordinator to head coach. But he failed to perform as expected. However, in 2003, the Cowboy became the team with the best record, allowing them to acquire a playoff berth during that season. The Cowboys were actually on and off, being in the playoffs and then out again. It is like a rollercoaster ride, as the team tried to regain their lost championship form.

However, a few more misfortunes befell the team as 12 of the players got injured in an accident at their practice facility. The arena collapsed when a wind storm strike. Even so, the Dallas Cowboys will continue to be a strong force in the NFL. In fact, they are scheduled to be a part of the Legacy Weekend games of the 2009 season.

Throughout their stint in the National Football League, the cowboys have won a total of five Super Bowl Championships. They have 10 Conference Championships and 19 Division Championships as well, along with a total of 29 playoff appearances.

The team used to play at the Cotton Bowl stadium during their first few years in the league. Then they transferred to the Texas Stadium in 1971 until they moved out only a year ago. Right now, the team is playing at the Cowboys Stadium, which serves as their official home court.

NFL Free Agent Jeff Garcia Slams Oakland Raiders

Veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia was released earlier this week by the Philadelphia Eagles, a victim of too many quarterbacks on the roster. Now that hes no longer under contract to a NFL team, hes letting his feelings be known about another one of his recent employers–the Oakland Raiders. In an interview with Fox Sports Radio in which he slammed the teams management and suggested that current quarterback Jamarcus Russell was in over his head.

Garcia started his comments with an observation that the team is putting too much pressure on their young quarterback. He suggested that the team is putting their hopes on Russells shoulders, and that hes simply not ready for that pressure mentally or emotionally:

“I have no problem going into a situation and helping a young guy out and really trying to help the team out overall more so than anything. I just feel like it’s an unfortunate situation when the entire work ethic and the entire goal of the team is really put upon one guy’s shoulder.”

Garcia emphasized that Russell’s talent wasn’t the problem:

“When you put him on the field in a one-on-one workout session he’ll make every throw for you. But when it comes down to making things happen in the heat of the battle and rallying the troops around you and making a case for the team, that’s where maybe things aren’t where they need to be.”

Russell is currently suffering with a 39.8 pass rating”the worst in the NFL”and hasnt shown much progress from game to game. Garcia went on to assert that the Raiders problems go much deeper than the inexperience of their quarterback:

“It was to a point where I felt like guys who walked through those doors that just were there to collect a check and not really interested in putting everything that they had within themselves on to the football field. And that was the frustrating thing for me to see.

“There were a lot of good young guys in that locker room who really want to do whatever it takes to win, but unfortunately it’s not everybody. In order to compete at this level in this game, everybody needs to be on board.”

“Maybe it’s because how things have been for a number of years now out there and they just don’t see the hope”

After his release from the Raiders, coach Tom Cable insinuated that Garcia had an issue with playing backup to Russell:

“There was some talk about how he would fit but the best way for me to approach it is the other two played so well and we are committed to JaMarcus as our starter. Whether or not Garcia was comfortable in a role as a backup, it is what it is.”

Ultimately, Garcia suggested that despite his best effort to change the culture of the Raiders it got to the point where he simply wanted out:

“To see the reality of the situation and realize what I may be up against staying here for the entire year, it hurt me, it broke my heart to do that to step up. But I just felt like it was something I really didn’t want to put myself through anymore.”

The 39 year old Garcia has started 110 games in the NFL in ten seasons after a standout career in the Canadian Football League. Theres a good chance youll see him back in action before the end of the year”though the Raiders are clearly no longer an option.

Lesnar Becomes UFC Champion With Win Over Mir

On a historic night for the UFC and the sport of mixed martial arts, Brock Lesnar avenged his early loss to Frank Mir with a TKO victory and in the process unified the promotions heavyweight championship at UFC 100. Mir/Lesnar was the main event of a stacked card and the culmination of an insane week in Las Vegas.

The anticipation surrounding UFC 100 was unprecedented among the fight sport media and, more significantly, among mainstream sports media. MMA has long has been an object of scorn, disdain and ignorance among traditional sports media, and in this context the fact that every major outlet including ESPN, SI.com and Fox Sports featured UFC 100 as their top story of the day is downright amazing. The broader implications of UFC 100 remain to be seen, but it could very likely become a turning point for the sport where MMA transcended cult or niche status to burst into the mainstream consciousness.

While the big metric of the events success will be its PPV buy rate”which will almost certainly shatter existing UFC records”the attendance numbers and other tangible measures that are already known underscore the significance of the event. Fridays weigh in was a standing room only affair with over 2,000 fans turned away. A Fan Expo held in conjunction with UFC 100 counted over 30,000 visitors on Friday and an equal or greater number on Saturday. Even veteran fight media experienced in covering big boxing and MMA events worldwide have reported that the energy and general vibe around this event is like nothing theyve seen.

And the main event of the week was Saturdays UFC 100 fight card where Lesnar established not only his dominance of the promotions heavyweight division but his status as the biggest heel in MMA. To his credit, he had a perfect gameplan for Mir that allowed him to use his strength and power to maul his opponent on the ground while minimizing his exposure to submissions.

By contrast, Mir made a tactical mistake in allowing Lesnar to put him on his back so quickly and control him on the ground. He may have considered this his best opportunity to win”wait out Lesnar and look for an opportunity for a submission”but it never materialized and by the end of the first round hed already absorbed a brutal beating. Lesnar quickly took Mir down again at the start of the second round, ending the fight with a punishing ground and pound assault that prompted referee Herb Dean to call a stop to the contest at 1:48 of the second round.

Lesnar’s postfight performance was less impressive and not befitting a champion. He taunted Mir after the stoppage, prompting the crowd to boo him mercilessly. He responded to this with a double handed middle finger salute before a short and arrogant postfight interview that would have been much more at home in the WWE than in this setting. Mir was the consummate professional in defeat, giving credit to his opponent and generally displaying all of the class that Lesnar lacked.

Lamar Odom Signs Contract To Return To NBA Champs

After some tense moments during a ‘communication breakdown’, both Lamar Odom and the Los Angeles Lakers got what they really wanted all along. The Lakers retained the services of their valuable sixth man, and Odom will return to the team after an intense recruiting pitch from the Miami Heat.

Terms of the deal werent immediately released, but both player and team appeared relieved that things had worked out. In early July, negotiations broke down after some miscommunication between Odoms agent and Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss. While Odom worked to mend fences”including several personal phone calls to Dr. Buss”his agent was receiving interest from Miami, Portland and Dallas. Miami, in particular, was extremely interest bringing out the big guns in the personage of Dwayne Wade and Pat Riley to make a recruiting pitch.

Ultimately, however, Odom couldnt come up with a compelling reason to leave his situation in Los Angeles. At the official signing ceremony, he hinted that a dynasty could be in the making:

“I guess basketball-wise, I feel complete. I want to feel it again. It’s kind of an overwhelming feeling. I get goose bumps when I think about it, and as long as I continue to play professional basketball, I want to always feel that. The way I feel during the summer, I always want to feel that. If we can win six, seven, eight, nine, 10 championships in a row, I want to experience that.”

While talk of 10 straight championships may be mere hyperbole, theres no reason the Lakers cant run off a repeat or better with their current lineup. In fact, with the teams signing of Ron Artest the lineup may be better than a year ago. Artest brings not only his infamous swagger and intensity, but an element of toughness and versatility that Ariza lacked. Such was Odoms commitment to the Lakers is that even during his free agency, he helped recruit Artest to sign with the team:

“I spoke to Ron two days before he signed, and I told him how important I think it is for him to come here. Because I know how hard he works, he needs to experience basketball at its best, at the highest level, and he needs to become a Laker. Two days after that, he signed.”

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak sounded relieved that everything worked out in the end:

“Three or four months ago, I didn’t think it could be possible that we could basically bring this team back in whole. Lamar had a wonderful season that ended on the best possible note you could have, and Lamar had a lot of options. … Here it is, July 31, and we have brought back everybody that we wanted to bring back.”

Odom has spent most of his career in L.A., either with the Lakers or the Clippers, and he noted that the city is home to him and his family:

“I didn’t want my kids to have to change schools — just the little things. I’m comfortable here. I’ve been here since I was’ years old. I’m proud to be playing for what I think is the most popular brand in sports.

Cowboys Trounce Seahawks

Quarterback Tony Romo had another solid game, and the Dallas Cowboys made short work of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon in a 38-17 victory. Romo threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, and receiver Miles Austin caught a touchdown pass for the third straight game. The Cowboys improved to 5-2 with the win, while the Seahawks dropped to 2-5.

The Cowboys also got on the winning side of the NFL pointspread ledger with the win and cover as -10 home favorites. Dallas is now 4-3 against the spread for the season, while Seattle fell to 2-5 versus the number. The 55 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 46′. Dallas has gone OVER in 5 of 7 games this season and four in a row. Seattle eclipsed the total for only the third time this season.

Romo has made greater patience in the pocket a priority this season, and it’s paying dividends. Sunday’s game was his third straight without an interception and he’s stayed interception free in five games this season-more than he did all of last year. Romo couldn’t resist a joke at his own expense:

“Shock! I’m seeing things. It’s as simple as that. I’m not throwing and hoping.”

Head coach Wade Phillips expressed his pleasure, but didn’t want his team to start believing their own press clippings:

“I feel good about the progress we’ve made, but we’ve still got a ways to go.”

Team owner Jerry Jones was happy with the performance and already looking ahead to next Sunday’s game at Philadelphia:

“I’m just glad to see as many people really do as well and play as well as they did today. Philadelphia is the kind of game that I think we’re ready for. … Plus, I think we all remember so much — I know I do and so many players on this team remember — how we left Philadelphia last year.”

Seattle quarterback Todd Hasselbeck played well, amassing 249 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions but didn’t get much help from a defense that couldn’t put the necessary pressure on Romo. He sounded frustrated in his postgame comments:

“We put two weeks into this game plan. I felt like we were ready. We just didn’t get it done. …. I feel physically drained, emotionally drained. I’m frustrated. We’re all searching for answers.”

The big game for the Cowboys that Jerry Jones alluded to is next Sunday night as they travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. The Cowboys have been installed as +3 underdogs with the total set at 47′. They’ll head to Green Bay to take on the Packers the following Sunday. Seattle will host the lowly Detroit Lions next Sunday, with the Seahawks a -10 home favorite and the total set at 43. They’ll hit the road for their next two games, facing the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings.

NY Jets Rip Hapless Raiders

The New York Jets and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez found a sure fire cure to their recent struggles-a game against the lowly Oakland Raiders. Sanchez passed for–3 yards and a touchdown, plus added a rushing touchdown as New York thumped Oakland 38-0 in the largest regular season shutout win in franchise history. Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell continued to struggle, and he passed for just 61 yards with three interceptions before he was benched in favor of Bruce Gradowski.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who took the Jets as -6 road favorites had smooth sailing throughout the game for an easy pointspread cover. The Jets improved to 4-3 against the spread while the Raiders fell to 3-5 against the number. The 38 points scored went OVER the posted total of 34. Oakland failed to score a touchdown for the 15th game in the past four seasons.

It was such an effortless game that the only thing that Sanchez had to apologize for was surreptitiously eating a hot dog near the end of the contest:

“I want to apologize for that. I wasn’t feeling very good and didn’t eat much before the game, so I was feeling a little queasy. Toward the end of the game, I probably should have eaten one of those bars or something, but someone offered a hot dog, so I grabbed it and tried to be discreet about it, but obviously not discreet enough. So I shouldn’t have done that, and it won’t happen again.”

Sanchez praised the defense for making his job easy:

“It makes it so easy on the offense when your defense is playing like that. Hats off to them, they had a heck of a game to shut that team out. I don’t care who we’re playing, that’s a big-time accomplishment for our team.”

Jets’ coach Rex Ryan was very pleased with Sanchez’s performance:

“Sanchez was great. He was just smart with the football. I think sometimes he could have put the ball on a receiver, but he was making sure the ball wasn’t intercepted. It was great to see him respond.”

Raiders’ defensive lineman Richard Seymour, who boldly predicted the team would make the playoffs despite their slow start, was singing a different tune after the rout:

“I don’t think we could have beaten an Oakland high school team today.”

Despite Russell’s struggles, Oakland coach Tom Cable remains committed to him as the team’s starter:

“I thought he was really out of sorts early in the game. I just did not feel like at that point he gave us the best chance to have the success we needed to have offensively and made the move. JaMarcus will continue to be our starter. There is no issue there.”

The Raiders will try to bounce back this weekend in a big rivalry game on the road against the San Diego Chargers. Oakland is +16′ road underdogs with the total set at 42′. They’ll then enjoy a bye week before back to back home games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets host Miami this Sunday, with New York a -3′ home favorite and the total set at 40′.

Chiefs Beat Struggling Redskins

The offensively struggling Kansas City Chiefs have finally found a way to win-play a team with a more stagnant offense than their own. The Chiefs gave Todd Haley his first win as a NFL head coach on Sunday with a—6 win over the Washington Redskins. Kansas City won despite not scoring a touchdown, compiling their– points via 4 Ryan Succop field goals and a game ending safety.

To successfully bet on NFL football you occasionally have to put aside W/L records and look at the underlying statistics. Those who did that found reason to take Kansas City as +6′ road underdogs and were rewarded with the outright victory. Kansas City is now 2-4 against the NFL pointspread and has covered two straight while Washington is a dismal 1-5 versus the money. The 20 combined points went well UNDER the posted total of 36′.

After the contest, Haley sounded more relieved than excited about finally putting a “W” on the board:

“We made it pretty difficult, right down to the end. We’ve pushed through a very difficult period. We needed to get some positive reinforcement with a win.”

Kansas City QB Matt Cassel also won for the first time since coming over from New England in the off season. His postgame comments were more upbeat:

“There’s been a lot of change, but this has definitely been special. We rose to the occasion. We made some big plays. We put ourselves in a position to score points.”

Embattled Redskins’ coach Jim Zorn was stripped of his offensive play calling duties by team management after the contest. In one of his last decisions in that role, he pulled starter Jason Campbell at halftime and went with Todd Collins. He explained his move as follows:

“I felt the need to create a spark on our football team offensively and went with Todd. I think the guys responded well. We kept our spark, at times, and then we refizzled.”

The Redskins have managed to win only two of their first six games despite being the only team in NFL history to play their first six games of the season against winless opponents. They’ll get another chance to silence their doubters next Monday night as they host the Philadelphia Eagles. The Skins are +6′ home underdogs with the total set at 38′. They’ll have a bye the next week and return to action on November 8th against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Kansas City will try to string together back to back wins as they host the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

MMA Flashback: Kimbo Slice And Elite XC Debut On CBS

It wasnt the decisive blowout that EliteXC was hoping far to send Kimbo Slices stardom into the stratosphere but with some seriously tense moments for the former street fighter against a game James Thompson everyone concerned is likely happy with a victory of any sort. Kimbo at times displayed some surprising skill on the ground, while at other times looked amateurish and lost.

This strategy worked well for Thompson until the final round. With both fighters faces showing the effects of their opponents punches, Kimbo stalked Thompson around the cage looking for a big punch. Though “The Colossus” kept his feet through several punishing combinations, the beginning of the end came when a Slice punch nearly sheared his ear off. The bloody, grotesque ear was clearly at risk of being seriously damaged and Kimbo punctuated this with four or five uncontested power punches. Thompson by this point was out on his feet and the ref jumped in to bring the proceedings to a halt giving Kimbo a TKO victory. After the fight an exhausted and relieved Slice flopped onto the mat, clearly relieved to have survived the toughest test hes faced in his embryonic MMA career.

While Thompson and his corner complained of an early stoppage, given the severity of the ear injury and the four or five uncontested power shots by Kimbo its a tough case to make. Furthermore, it was consistent with the officiating all night which obviously was trying to err on the side of caution in the first MMA event on prime time major network television. The ref was quick to call several of the earlier bouts, and the ringside physician was involved. The fights on the card that ended by stoppage could have arguably been called a second or two early, but as the old saying goes better a second too early than a second too late.

Despite the tough test faced by Kimbo Slice and a disappointing no-contest in the semifinal bout between Robbie Lawler and tough Scott Smith, EliteXC overall has to be very happy with how the event came off. The presentation was highly professional all night, and the announcing was superb. There was no question that Gus Johnson and Mauro Ranallo are solid pros, and Frank Shamrock is obviously a well spoken and experienced expert commentator but the three meshed together exceptionally well.

The emphasis from the start was on selling the sport of MMA, with the promotion taking a secondary role. This was done via nicely produced and informative instructional videos, which would be helpful to a first time MMA viewer but didnt come off as sophomoric to the seasoned aficionado. Given the often unpredictable nature of the sport, EliteXC has to be pleased with how everything came off and the results of the fights on the card.

Overall, it was a professionally produced and entertaining night of action. With the exception of the less than decisive victory by Kimbo in the main event, it couldnt have gone better for EliteXC had it been scripted.
